Jesse Krakauer, M.D., F.A.C.P.

Dr. Krakauer has 15 years experience as a Clinical Endocrinologist with subspecialty expertise in bone and mineral metabolism and multidisciplinary bariatric programs. Dr. Krakauer graduated from California's Stanford University School of Medicine. After an internship in general internal medicine at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he spent several years in Israel, practicing family medicine in the course of which he earned a Community Medicine Certificate from Tel Aviv University Medical School. A residency in internal medicine was completed at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Krakauer then served an additional year of medical residency in Israel to become certified as a specialist in that country. He also served for 18 months as a physician in the Israel Defense Forces. After returning to the United States in 1989, Dr. Krakauer was a fellow for three years and then spent two years as senior staff physician at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, pursuing subspecialty interests in Endocrinology & Metabolism, Bone & Mineral and Medical Informatics.

In 1995, Dr. Krakauer began work in the Division of Preventive and Nutritional Medicine, William Beaumont Hospital, MI and was on the hospital staff as an endocrinologist. During his years at the hospital, Dr. Krakauer attended both national and international medical conferences and presented original research reports on a number of topics. Some of his research contributions have been published in peer-reviewed medical journals. His significant published work includes the assessment of body composition with total body scans performed on standard bone density scanners, applied body composition profiles to risk factor assessment and monitoring the effects of weight loss after diet or bariatric surgery. He has also been involved in conducting a wide range of pharmaceutical trials in his fields of specialty.

For three years before joining Middletown Medical, Dr. Krakauer served as Director of Bone Health Services at UnaSource Comprehensive Weight Loss Clinic in Michigan. Dr. Krakauer is a Certified Clinical Densitometrist and is board certified in Internal Medicine and in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.
